We are looking for someone to create our skeletons and rigs for characters and props used throughout our game. Someone that thrives in a communicative and collaborative environment to create the most efficient process to bring our characters to life and iterate to find what works and looks best for the game and the people using your work. Your experience will be essential when creating a scalable, game-shipping pipeline. This role will require someone that creates consistent and fast rigs. Quick iteration is a must. Someone that will be conscious of the scope and size of the team and will adjust accordingly. A good eye and the ability to prioritize will be essential.

Some of your responsibilities:

  • Create skeletons and rigs for the character models and props making sure the deformations, hierarchy, pivot points, joint orientations are consistent and correct. This will include non-human characters and props; basically anything that needs a skeletal mesh.
  • Design a robust character pipeline:
    • Sharing skeletons.
    • Modular characters.
    • Retargeting across different skeletons.
    • Batch process of animations for skeleton changes.
    • Tools for animators to interact with the rigs.
  • Design and maintain an efficient character pipeline within unreal.
    • Anything related to skeletal meshes, cloth, dynamics, procedural animation.
    • Anything else that the character may require.
  • Collaborate with all members of the team to make sure that the process to implement characters in the game is as efficient and iterative as possible.

Required skills:

  • Experience developing rigs for games.
  • Excellent rigging skills.

    • Maya
    • Unreal
    • Tool Writing (Python preferred)
